What size should my sample be for a PLX-HotStage test
Sample dimensions for your PLX-HotStage
The minimum and maximum sample dimensions for the indenter tip that is provided with the PLX-HotStage are given in the table below:
| Indenter Tip Radius (mm) | Minimum Lateral Dimensions (mm) | Maximum Lateral Dimensions (mm) | Minimum Thickness (mm) | Maximum Thickness (mm) |
| 1 | 10 | 30 | 3 | 10 |
The minimum sample dimensions relate to the assumption in the finite element modelling that the sample is semi-infinite. The dimensions have been set such that this assumption is not breached.
The maximum sample dimensions relate to what can fit in the test space. The sample thickness cannot be above 10 mm, as a small clearance is required for the profilometer to move beneath the crosshead. The profilometer must not collide with the sample at any point.
